Woman Wins Case Against Credit Society

A woman deposited Rs 9.5 lakh in fixed deposits with a Karnataka credit society. The credit society promised <b>12%</b> interest but failed to repay the amount. The woman and a <b>73</b>-year-old senior citizen approached the consumer commission. The Gadag District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission directed repayment of the principal amount with applicable interest, <b>Rs 20,000</b> compensation, and <b>Rs 5,000</b> litigation costs.
