National Commission for Women chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has asserted that Indian women are proven leaders who have demonstrated capabilities across all sectors. She expressed strong confidence that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will be implemented soon to ensure greater representation of women in Parliament and state assemblies. Rahatkar highlighted that women have successfully excelled in Panchayati Raj institutions, leading several states to increase reservation from 33 percent to 50 percent. She noted that initial skepticism regarding women's administrative effectiveness was proven wrong by their exceptional performance in local governance roles. The NCW chief emphasized that this legislative move is essential to formalize women's leadership at the highest levels of national decision-making. The government is currently working toward the rollout of this landmark policy to empower women in legislative bodies.
