A local court has acquitted five individuals accused of arson and vandalism at a mosque during the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots. The incident reportedly occurred on September 8, 2013, in Muthbhar village under the Bhorakala police station limits. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had filed a chargesheet following the communal violence that gripped the region over a decade ago. The case involved allegations of targeted destruction of religious property during the height of the unrest. However, the court ordered the acquittal citing a lack of evidence and failure by the prosecution to substantiate the charges. Legal experts note that such outcomes highlight the challenges in securing convictions in long-standing riot cases.
